The reply from the PMO, received in February 2026, outlines an ambitious plan that includes four major projects. The most exciting part for many is the new Vande Bharat Express, which is expected to run between Dibrugarh and Guwahati. This high-speed train will significantly reduce the time people spend on the tracks and will offer superior comfort with modern seating and safety features.
To support this new service, the Dibrugarh Railway Station will be getting a brand-new Vande Bharat Express terminus. This facility will be built to national standards and will include all the latest amenities for passengers. Additionally, the existing Dibrugarh Town Railway Station will undergo a massive redevelopment project. The plan is to turn it into a world-class station with modern waiting areas, better shops, and improved security.
