T20 World Cup Hero Shivam Dube Travels Home by Train in Secret

After winning the T20 World Cup 2026, Indian cricketer Shivam Dube had a very unusual journey home. Just hours after celebrating a massive victory against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, the famous all-rounder was found sleeping on the top berth of a regular train. While most stars would take a private plane or a luxury flight, Dube chose to travel by train because he was in a hurry to see his family in Mumbai.

The reason for this choice was simple but surprising. After the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, all flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai were fully booked. Dube did not want to wait for another day because he missed his four-year-old son, Ayaan, and his two-year-old daughter, Mehwish. He told his wife, Anjum, and a friend that they should take the train instead of going by road because it would be faster. They managed to book tickets in the 3rd AC coach of the Sayaji Express.

Traveling on a public train as a world champion is not easy. Dube was worried that fans would recognize him and cause a huge crowd at the station. To stay hidden, he wore a cap, a face mask, and a full-sleeved T-shirt. He even waited inside his car until five minutes before the train was ready to leave. Once he got on the train, he quickly climbed to the upper berth and covered himself with a brown railway blanket so that no one could see his face.

There was a funny moment during the journey when the ticket checker arrived. The officer asked about the name “Shivam Dube” on the ticket, but he did not realize that the famous cricketer was actually lying right there on the top berth. Dube’s wife helped keep the secret by talking normally. Dube stayed on the top berth for most of the eight-hour journey and only got down once to use the washroom. Even then, luckily, nobody noticed him.

As the train reached Mumbai, Dube was worried about getting off at Borivali station in the daylight. He knew that many people would be there and someone might spot him. To make sure he got home safely, he called the local police for help. The police officers were very surprised to hear that a World Cup hero was traveling by train instead of flying. They provided a police escort to help him exit the station smoothly and avoid any big crowds.

Shivam Dube played a very important role in India’s World Cup win. He scored 235 runs in the tournament and hit a crucial 26 runs off just eight balls in the final match. His powerful hitting helped India reach a record total of 255 runs. After a long and successful tournament, his only goal was to be back home with his children. This humble journey shows how much he cares for his family and how he remains a simple person even after becoming a world champion. By afternoon, the “last action hero” was finally home, and the railway blanket was left behind on the train.

After India’s T20 World Cup 2026 victory, cricketer Shivam Dube surprised fans by traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on the Sayaji Express instead of flying. To avoid attention, he wore a cap and mask and rested on the upper berth of a 3AC coach during the journey. The all-rounder chose the train to quickly reunite with his family after the historic win.
