Mumbai CSMT Redevelopment Causes Two Key Vidarbha Trains to Stop at Dadar for 3 Months, Train Schedule Changes for Passengers

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) redevelopment work will cause major changes in train services for the next three months. Due to reconstruction work at CSMT station, two important trains from Vidarbha region will stop at Dadar station instead of CSMT. This change is to help with infrastructure work and improve train travel in future.

Why Are These Train Changes Happening?

The Central Railway is doing redevelopment work at CSMT in Mumbai. The work includes fixing platforms and improving passenger facilities. Platforms 16 and 17 will be closed for a total of 85 days for upgrades like structure repairs and better signalling systems. Because of this, trains cannot enter or exit from these platforms.

To continue train operations safely, Central Railway has changed the last stop for some long-distance trains. Two major trains from Vidarbha region — Amaravati-CSMT Express (Train No. 12112) and Ballarshah-Nandigram Express (Train No. 11002) — will now end their journey at Dadar station. This temporary change will start from 1 February 2026 and continue until 26 April 2026.

What Does This Mean for Passengers?

Passengers who usually travel to CSMT must now get down at Dadar station. From Dadar, they can take a local train or other public transport to reach CSMT or Mumbai city. This could add extra travel time for some people.

Other long-distance trains that use the closed platforms at CSMT will also have updated schedules and stops. Some trains like Hawrah-CSMT Express, Bhuvaneshwar-CSMT Konark Express, Bidar-CSMT Express, Latur-CSMT Express, and Madgaon-CSMT Tejas Express may see changes in their arrival times or stations. Passengers are advised to check the new timetable before traveling.

Challenges for Travelers

This temporary change will affect many long-distance train passengers who travel between Vidarbha (Nagpur, Amaravati region) and Mumbai. People from small towns, business travelers, students, and tourists need to plan their trip carefully during these 3 months. They should check the updated train schedule on railway apps, websites, or at station counters before their journey.

Even though the changes may cause some disruption, railway authorities say the CSMT redevelopment work will bring better facilities and more comfort for all passengers once finished. It means that in the long run, train travel to CSMT and Mumbai will be smoother and easier.

Important Tips for Passengers

  1. Check the new train timings before booking tickets.
  2. Expect to get off at Dadar station instead of CSMT.
  3. Use local trains or taxis from Dadar to reach other parts of Mumbai.
  4. Plan extra travel time for your journey.

This change is temporary and part of a big plan to make railway travel better in Mumbai and across Vidarbha.

Due to redevelopment work at Mumbai CSMT, including closure of Platforms 16 and 17 for 85 days, two key Vidarbha trains — Amaravati-CSMT Express and Ballarshah-Nandigram Express — will temporarily terminate at Dadar from February 1 to April 26, 2026. Several other long-distance trains may also see schedule changes. Passengers are advised to check updated timetables and plan additional travel time.
