Special Trains for Holi Festival Announced by Southern Railway

The Southern Railway has shared some very exciting news for people who are planning to travel during the upcoming Holi festival. This is a time when many people want to go back to their home towns to celebrate with their families and friends. Because so many people travel at the same time, regular trains often get full very quickly. To help with this problem and make sure everyone can travel comfortably, the railway department has decided to run several special trains. These trains will connect different cities and provide more seats for the passengers who need them during the busy holiday season.

One of the most important special trains announced is the service between Kochuveli and Shalimar. This train is very helpful for people traveling from Kerala towards West Bengal. The train number 06081 will start its journey from Kochuveli on specific Fridays. It is scheduled to leave Kochuveli at 4:20 in the afternoon and will reach Shalimar at 1:40 in the afternoon on Sunday. For the return journey, train number 06082 will leave Shalimar on Mondays at 3:40 in the afternoon and arrive back at Kochuveli at 9:50 in the morning on Wednesday. This long-distance train will stop at many important stations like Vizianagaram and Bhubaneswar along the way.

Another great service is the special train running between Tambaram and Santragachi. Tambaram is a very busy area near Chennai, and many people from the north live there for work. The train number 06089 will leave Tambaram on Wednesdays at 1:00 in the afternoon. It will travel through the night and part of the next day to reach Santragachi at 8:50 at night on Thursday. The return train, which is number 06090, will start from Santragachi on Fridays at 11:40 in the night and reach Tambaram at 9:45 in the morning on Sunday. This train is perfect for workers and students who want to head home for the colorful festival of Holi.

The railway has also planned a special service between Puducherry and Shalimar. This helps people living in the union territory and nearby areas of Tamil Nadu. Train number 06091 will depart from Puducherry on Saturdays at 11:30 in the morning and reach Shalimar at 7:30 in the evening on Sunday. When coming back, train number 06092 will leave Shalimar on Tuesdays at 11:50 in the morning and arrive in Puducherry at 8:00 in the evening on Wednesday. These trains are designed to handle the extra rush of passengers that happens every year during March.

If you are planning to travel on these special trains, it is very important to book your tickets as soon as possible. Even though these are extra trains, they fill up very fast because Holi is a very popular festival in India. You can book your tickets through the official IRCTC website or by visiting the railway station counters. These special trains usually have different types of coaches like air-conditioned classes and sleeper classes to suit everyone’s budget. The Southern Railway wants to ensure that no one misses out on the celebrations because of a lack of transport. By introducing these 36 special trips across different routes, the government is making holiday travel much easier and safer for everyone. Remember to check the timings carefully before you start your journey to avoid any confusion.

Southern Railway has announced special trains for the Holi festival to manage increased passenger demand. Key routes include Kochuveli–Shalimar, Tambaram–Santragachi, and Puducherry–Shalimar, with multiple trips scheduled in March. These additional services aim to ease congestion, provide confirmed travel options, and ensure smoother holiday journeys for passengers traveling across southern and eastern India.
