The project will cost about three thousand six hundred thirty four crore rupees. It will cover a long distance of one hundred ninety four kilometers. This new double track will change the way people and goods travel in the state.
For a long time, there was only a single railway track between Furkating and New Tinsukia. Because of this single line, trains often got late. A single track makes it very difficult for many trains to pass at the same time. One train always has to wait for another train to cross. Now, with a double line, trains can easily move in both directions without waiting. A top railway officer named Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said this will solve the heavy traffic jam on the tracks. This means your travel time will become much shorter and your journey will be much smoother.

This route is also very busy every single day. Adding a second track will stop train delays here too. Having both these important routes upgraded will make train travel in Assam very fast and very safe for all people.
The railway department has made a clear timetable to finish the work on time. They will finish different parts of the track step by step. The entire project should be fully ready by the month of January in the year twenty twenty eight. Some parts of the new track will start working even earlier, around May twenty twenty six.
