Southern Railway Makes Four Special Trains Permanent and Extends One Express Service

The people of Kerala have a wonderful reason to smile today. The Southern Railway has announced some excellent news for daily travelers in the state. In a big move to improve public transport, the railway authorities have decided to make four unreserved special trains completely permanent. Along with this, they have also extended the route of one very popular express train. This is a huge boost for the railway network in Kerala. It will surely make travel much easier and more comfortable for everyone.

For a long time, passengers were requesting the railway department to continue running these special trains. The Railway Board finally listened to the public demand and gave its official approval. Starting from March in the year twenty twenty six, these special trains will operate as regular daily or weekly services. Previously, special trains were only run for a short time during festivals or holiday seasons. Now, because they are permanent, passengers do not have to worry about these helpful trains stopping suddenly.

One of the most important trains included in this new change is the Antyodaya Weekly Express. This train runs between Thiruvananthapuram North and Mangaluru Junction. It is a completely unreserved train, which means passengers can buy tickets easily without booking months in advance. The train will start from Thiruvananthapuram North every Monday evening at quarter past five. It will travel through the night and reach Mangaluru Junction on Tuesday morning at ten minutes to seven. For the return journey, the train will leave Mangaluru Junction every Tuesday evening at six o clock. It will arrive back at Thiruvananthapuram North on Wednesday morning at a quarter past seven. This schedule is very useful for people who need to travel overnight for work or personal reasons.

Another very helpful service that is now permanent is the Palakkad to Kannur Daily Express. This train is a lifeline for hundreds of people who travel between these two busy cities every single day. The train will depart from Palakkad station in the afternoon at ten minutes to two. It will complete its journey and arrive at Kannur station in the evening at twenty five past seven. Because it runs every day, students, office workers, and small business owners can rely on it for their daily trips.

The railway department did not stop there. They have also made the Kannur to Kozhikode Daily Passenger train a permanent service. This is great news for short distance travelers. Furthermore, the unreserved train services running between Ernakulam and Kottayam have also been regularised. These trains will run on all weekdays from Monday to Friday. They will not run on Saturdays and Sundays. This specific schedule perfectly matches the needs of office going people who travel only during the work week.

Besides making trains permanent, the Southern Railway has extended the route of one important express train. The daily express train that previously ran only between Mangaluru Central and Kozhikode will now travel much further. It has been officially extended to reach Palakkad Junction. The train will start its journey from Mangaluru Central very early in the morning at a quarter past five. It will reach Kozhikode by ten minutes past ten in the morning. After a short stop, it will continue its journey and finally reach Palakkad Junction at five minutes past one in the afternoon. This extension connects three major cities smoothly in a single trip.

All these wonderful changes show that the Southern Railway cares about the comfort of its passengers. Unreserved trains are very affordable, which helps common families save money on travel. By making these trains permanent, the railway has removed the uncertainty of travel planning. People can now check the permanent schedules on the official railway websites and plan their journeys without any stress. This new rail boost will surely bring better connectivity and happier journeys for the people of Kerala.

Southern Railway has made four special trains in Kerala permanent and extended a key express service to Palakkad Junction. The move includes regularizing unreserved and daily trains, improving connectivity for commuters and long-distance travelers. These changes ensure reliable, affordable travel and eliminate uncertainty, offering better convenience for passengers across major routes in the state.
