Kerala Steps Up Action to Finish the Sabari Railway Project Soon

The Southern Railway and the Kerala government are finally working together to finish a very important railway project. This project is called the Angamaly to Erumeli Sabarimala railway line. People have waited a very long time for this new train route. Recently, the Southern Railway told the Kerala High Court that they are taking fast steps to start the work again. This is great news for many people who travel in Kerala, especially for the pilgrims going to the famous Sabarimala temple.

The railway officials gave a written statement to the court. They said that the Kerala state government is ready to pay for half of the total money needed for this project. The total cost of building this railway line is estimated to be around three thousand eight hundred crore rupees. A state agency called KIIFB will help provide the money for Kerala’s share. Because both the state and the railway department agree on the money, the work can finally move forward smoothly.

Before they can build the railway tracks, the government needs to buy the land. The Kerala government has already started this process. They have set up special teams and are doing land surveys right now. Once they finish buying the land from the owners, they will give it to the Railways. The train route will need a lot of land across different districts. They plan to get land in places like Aluva, Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha, Meenachil, and Thodupuzha.

The railway officials are also doing their part. They have asked their team to share the detailed project maps with the state officers. This means everyone will know exactly where the train tracks will go. It is very important for the state and the railway department to work together on the map so there is no confusion later.

This decision to start the work is very special because the project was delayed for almost twenty-five years. Many people thought this railway line would never happen. But recently, a state minister had a meeting with senior railway officers, and they decided to restart everything. The new railway line will be about one hundred and ten kilometers long.

This new train route will bring big changes to Kerala. It will connect many towns that do not have any train stations right now. Towns like Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha, Thodupuzha, and Pala will finally get railway connections. People living in these areas will find it much easier to travel for work or study. They will not have to depend only on buses or cars anymore.

The most important benefit of this project is for the Sabarimala pilgrims. Every year, millions of people visit the Sabarimala temple. Traveling by road can be difficult and sometimes unsafe because of heavy traffic and bad weather. The new railway line will give these pilgrims a safer and much easier way to travel. It will reduce the rush on the roads and make their holy journey very comfortable. Everyone is hoping that the work finishes fast so that people can start enjoying these new train services soon.

The long-pending Angamaly–Erumeli Sabarimala railway project in Kerala is set to move forward as Southern Railway and the state government align on funding and land acquisition. With an estimated cost of ₹3,800 crore, the 110 km line will improve connectivity to underserved towns and provide easier, safer travel for Sabarimala pilgrims after decades of delay.
