Indian Railways to Build New Train Lines in Rajasthan Border Areas

The Ministry of Railways is planning some very big projects for the state of Rajasthan. They want to build new train tracks in the districts that are very close to the international border. The main goal is to improve travel and transport in the remote desert areas of Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer. Right now, these areas do not have enough train services. People living there have to depend a lot on buses and cars to move around or to send their goods to other places.

The government has chosen three new routes to bring better connectivity to these distant towns. The first route will connect a border town named Anupgarh to another place called Khajuwala, which is in the Bikaner district. Anupgarh is situated very near the Pakistan border. The railway officials have already prepared a very detailed report for this specific project. They carefully measured everything and found that this new railway line will be about one hundred and eighty-seven kilometers long. They also calculated that it will cost around two thousand two hundred and seventy-seven crore rupees to build. This project is now waiting for the final yes from the central government in New Delhi.

Besides this first route, the railways are also looking at two more big projects in the same region. One of these proposed lines will connect Jaisalmer, Barmer, and a place called Bhiladi. This line is expected to be quite long, covering a distance of about three hundred and eighty kilometers. The other planned route will link Khajuwala directly to Jaisalmer. This route will be around two hundred and sixty kilometers long. For both of these new projects, the railway engineers are currently busy doing final location surveys. They are walking the land and using special tools to find the best and safest path to lay down the iron tracks.

For many years, the local people and their leaders in districts like Sri Ganganagar have been asking the government for better trains. Because they live in a desert area, traveling by road can sometimes be slow and difficult. They believe that having a strong railway network will make their lives much easier. It will help local businesses send their products to big markets in other parts of the country much faster. It will also help students travel to colleges and sick people reach large hospitals in big cities.

A senior official from the North Western Railway explained how important these projects are. He stated that expanding the railway infrastructure is the best way to join these far-off border regions with the rest of the state and the whole nation. When trains reach these areas easily, the local economy will naturally grow stronger. It will create new jobs for the people during the construction phase and also later when the trains start running regularly.

This great news about the border railways was also mentioned by the Railway Minister, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw. He spoke about these plans recently in Parliament while discussing the budget and the money needed for the railways in the upcoming year. This shows that the central government is paying serious attention to developing the border areas. By building these new lines, the Indian Railways hopes to bring progress, better trade, and an easier life to the people living in the beautiful but remote desert districts of Rajasthan.

Indian Railways is planning new railway lines in Rajasthan’s border districts like Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer to improve connectivity and boost regional development. The proposed routes aim to support passenger travel and enhance freight movement in remote desert areas. Announced by Ashwini Vaishnaw, these projects will strengthen infrastructure and economic growth near international borders.
