Even though the first permission is given, there are strict rules to follow for everyone’s safety. The Railway Board said that these new trains can run at a top speed of eighty kilometers per hour under normal conditions. Safety is the most important thing for the whole metro system. Therefore, the BMRCL still needs another final permission. This final yes must come from a special safety office called the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety. To get this final permission, the metro company must show a very detailed safety report. This report will prove that the new trains work perfectly with the signals on the tracks and can be controlled without any problems.
Right now, the metro company already has three of these new trains. One of them arrived earlier in January as a test model. Before real passengers can sit inside, these trains must pass many tests. In fact, there are thirty seven different safety checks they must clear. The testing process is very hard and careful. It checks how the train uses its brakes, how fast it goes, and how smooth the ride feels. Special engineers from the railway ministry are helping with these long tests. They want to be absolutely sure that the computer systems inside the train talk perfectly to the signals outside.
You might wonder who is making these new trains for the city of Bengaluru. A large company from China is building them. This Chinese company is working together with an Indian company from the state of West Bengal. Together, they will deliver a total of twenty one new trains for the Purple and Green lines. This is a very big upgrade for the city. Until now, all the older fifty seven trains were made by a different Indian company.
When these new trains finally start running in May or June, it will truly change how people travel in Bengaluru. Passengers will not have to wait a very long time for a train to arrive at the station. The platforms will have less crowding during the rush hours.
