A very exciting change has happened for the car industry in Maharashtra. The Central Railway has started a brand new service to carry cars using trains. This special operation started from a place called the Igatpuri Goods Shed, which is located in the Nashik district. On Saturday, May second, the railway team loaded cars onto a train at this station for the very first time. This new facility will make it much easier and faster for car makers to send their vehicles to different parts of India.
The very first order for this train service was placed by a famous transport company called the Transport Corporation of India Limited. For the first journey, workers loaded exactly one hundred brand new cars onto the train. These cars were made at the Mahindra and Mahindra factory, which is located nearby in Nashik. To carry these cars safely, the railway used twenty five special coaches called New Modified Goods wagons. These wagons are specially designed with double decks and ramps so that cars can be driven inside and parked safely without getting any scratches during the long journey.

The train left Igatpuri and traveled a long distance to reach a place called the Nautanwa Goods Terminal, which is under the North Eastern Railway near the border of Nepal. This single trip was a big success for the railway because it helped them earn a lot of money. The Central Railway made around seventeen lakh sixteen thousand rupees from this first journey. In the future, they plan to run many more trains like this to earn regular income and support local businesses.
Before this new station was opened for loading, car manufacturers in the Nashik area had to send their vehicles to far away railway stations or use big trucks on the road. Now, because the Igatpuri Goods Shed is so close to the factories, it will save a lot of time and money for the companies. Sending cars by train is much cheaper than using roads. It also helps the companies deliver their new vehicles to showrooms and customers much faster than before.
Using trains to carry cars is also very good for our environment. Usually, it takes many big transport trucks to carry one hundred cars on the highway. These trucks create a lot of smoke, which makes the air dirty, and they also cause heavy traffic jams on the roads. By putting all one hundred cars on a single train, the government can save fuel and reduce harmful pollution. It keeps the highways safer and cleaner for everyone else who is driving.
This new project is part of a big government plan called Gati Shakti. The main goal of this plan is to build better transport systems across India so that businesses can grow quickly. The Central Railway team is looking for more products, like steel, cement, and farm goods, that can be moved by trains. They want to make sure that railways become the first choice for moving heavy cargo in India. This successful start in Igatpuri is a big step forward, and it shows that the future of transport in India is becoming faster, cheaper, and much greener.
Central Railway has launched a new automobile transport service from the Igatpuri Goods Shed in Nashik district. The first train carried 100 Mahindra cars to a terminal near the Nepal border using specially designed double-deck wagons. The new facility will reduce transport costs, ease highway traffic, cut pollution, and support the government’s Gati Shakti logistics modernization plan.
