Also, you must keep in mind that you can change your boarding station only one single time for each ticket. You cannot change it multiple times.
Making this change is very simple and easy to do from your own home. You just need to open the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website, which is famous as the IRCTC website. You can also use the IRCTC mobile app on your smartphone. When you log in to your personal account, you must go to your booked tickets history. There, you will see a clear option to change the boarding point. When you click it, the system will show you a list of stations on your route. You just pick your new preferred station and confirm your choice. After that, you will receive a success message on your mobile phone.
If you do not want to use the internet, there is an offline option too. You can go to any railway ticket reservation counter. You just need to show your original ticket and a valid identity card to the booking officer. The officer will make the change in the computer and give you an updated ticket.

For example, if you buy a paper ticket from a railway station counter, you can now cancel it at any other railway station in the country.
