There is big news from Nagpur about the Indian Railways. A government worker was caught doing something very wrong. The Central Bureau of Investigation, also known as the CBI, arrested a man named Sanjit Kumar. He worked as an accountant in a very important railway office in Bhusawal, which is part of the Central Railway. The police arrested him because he asked for money to do his regular job. This is called taking a bribe, and it is strictly against the law.
The problem started with another railway worker. A trackman who works at a station called Murtijapur had some money waiting for him from the government. He was supposed to get fifty-eight thousand rupees. This money was extra pay from a special promotion scheme called the Modified Assured Career Progression, or MACP for short. This scheme helps workers get higher pay when they work hard for a long time. However, the trackman could not get his money because the accountant, Sanjit Kumar, stopped the paperwork.

On the sixth of April, the trackman decided to complain. He went straight to the CBI officers. He told them that Sanjit Kumar wanted five thousand rupees. The accountant said he would only clear the paperwork and release the big amount of money if the trackman paid him the small amount first. Asking for extra money just to finish official work is very unfair to honest workers who need their hard-earned money.
The CBI officers moved very fast after hearing this serious complaint. On the exact same day, they checked all the details to see if the trackman was telling the truth. The officers found clear proof that the accountant was indeed demanding the money. Because they had proof, they quickly filed an official police report. This report is called a First Information Report, or FIR. They used a strict law named the Prevention of Corruption Act to book the case against him.
After filing the report, the CBI decided to catch the accountant in the act. They set up a clever trap. A trap is when the police hide and watch someone commit a crime so they have solid proof. They asked the trackman to meet the accountant and give him the five thousand rupees. When Sanjit Kumar took the money in his hands, the CBI officers jumped in. They caught him red-handed. This means they saw him doing the bad thing right at that exact moment.
The arrest of this accountant is a big warning to everyone. It shows that taking illegal money is a serious crime that can ruin a career. The railway authorities and the CBI want to make sure that all offices are clean and honest. Workers who try to cheat others will face very strict punishment. Now, Sanjit Kumar will have to go to court and face the judge for his actions.
This swift action by the CBI also gives hope to other workers. If anyone faces a similar problem, they know they can go to the police for help. The law is very clear, and government services should be free from corruption. The trackman was brave to report the crime, and because of his courage, a bad practice was stopped in that office.
A railway accountant from Bhusawal Division was arrested by the CBI in Nagpur for accepting a ₹5,000 bribe to clear pending dues of a trackman under the MACP scheme. Acting on a complaint, officials laid a trap and caught him red-handed. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, reinforcing strict action against corruption in railway administration.
